Society’s obsession with cellulite is almost unexplicable and to be honest pretty dumb. If you were to pick up any woman’s magazine at the newsstand you are guaranteed to find a feature, advertisement or article telling us all about the nightmare discovery of cellulite and what you must do immediately to rid your body of this eyesore nestling on your bodyÂ
But what is cellulite anyway and what’s the big deal?
The dictionary defines cellulite as “A fatty deposit causing a dimpled or uneven appearance, as around the thighs and
buttocks.†What happens medically is the fat, which is very close to the surface of the skin in these area, pushes itself against connective tissues in the skin to cause a dimpled look, which is refered to as called “peau d’orange†in France or orange peel if you prefer the translation.
Contrary to common belief people (women and men) of all ages can have cellulite it is not a symptom exclusive to women as most believe. Somehow what is seen as adorable on babies is horrifying bad news on women. Trashy celebrity magazines in the grocery store and on the newsstands take great delight in showing photo’s of celebrities when scantily clad on a beach to show close-up photos (doubtless taken with very large zoom lenses) of actresses and their shockingly ‘normal’ bodies.
Creams, lotions, and potions are available in abunadance both in stores and online to rid our legs and thighs of any dimpled areas caused by cellulite. All promising they are the true solution to this problem.
What many people so easily ignore out of choice or ignorance there is a very simple solution for cellulite elimination and preventing it in the first place in a word: EXERCISE! that’s right In most cases, regular exercise such as biking or walking will rid you of cellulite and tone your legs and bottom better than any cream, lotion or other method …
Oh there is a down side you might actually have to do something but look on the bright side you’ll also probably lose a few pounds in to the bargain.
People obsess over the result or you prefer the end result, not the cause or the neglect that actually lead to poor health. This is not saying that everyone should expect a perfectly toned body at any age, but certainly keeping yourself healthy is an sensible choice.
It’s important to understand that cellulite is NOT a disease and not even an unhealthy characteristic of the body. This is very much contrary to what all the womens magazines and skin care manufacturers would have us believe.
Simply walking for half and hour every day will do more for your self-confidence and overall feeling of health than any magic
cream or lotion or those increasingly popular electric muscle stimulators. If you found time like I did to read research about cellulite in , it is very simply fatty tissue that is not generally unhealthy in its self (unless you also have too much body fat overall) and really different from ordinary fat any where else on the body.
Any sort of nutritional supplement, topical product (applied to the affected area), device, or specific spa treatment that claims to reduce cellulite should be considered with caution primarily for safety reasons and also because they simply are not effective. Your best bet to get rid of cellulite is to get regular, sometimes strenuous, exercise and eat a diet that won’t give you surplus unneccesary fat.
Also, remember that your body’s pattern of fat distribution is essentially inherited, so everyone’s ‘problem areas’ are
different so don’t take it too personally you can always blame your mom.
The U.S. National Library of Medicine which is a reliable source recommends the following for people concerned about cellulite:
· A healthy diet with fruits, vegetables, and fiber (5 a day is recommended)
· Plenty of fluids (water is best)
· Regular exercise
· Healthy weight with no yo-yo dieting
· No smoking (this is very important for your over all health anyway)
See told you it was nothing to worry about … funny feeling is I feel my message will be falling on deaf ears.
