With so many different detox programs available, it can be confusing to know which one will be the best for you.
The truth is that even with so many options, you can still choose a body detoxification program that is especially for you and your requirements.
By picking and choosing some of the finer points from different detox programs, you can personalize your own detox system that works best for you and your body.
As I said there are loads of different detox systems and detox programs out there already.
There are some which come with pre-made detox plans, detox pills infact everything you could need from a detox program for your body.
There are others that even come as a pre-packaged juice or drink of various different types and flavors
Others detox plans might require you to make your own drinks or liquid foods or some just simply work with lots of water and fasting (not eating anything at all) and others use calorific restriction diets keeping your calorie intact down helping reduce your weight more quickly.
Some examples of types of detox systems are:
• water fasting which means just drinking lots of water and nothing else (this should only be done for a couple of days at most)
• juice fasting various juices or combination of juices such as fruit and vegetable or combinations of both.
• minimal eating this limits the diet to certain foods
• herbal detox this will involve ingesting certain herbs to clean out the body and intestinal tract.
• detox baths this will involve special baths which are often found in spa’s.
• colon cleansing this can either done by ingesting a colon cleanser or some spas and medical centers offer colonic irrigation (bascially flushing out the colon and intestines to remove fecal and other food matter) I am told it is not very pleasant but afterwards you feel transformed.
• calorific restriction this involves limiting your calorie intake for a set period.
• and of course there are many others which we discuss in further articles.
You might want to read about these different programs to try to see which one you think will work best for your needs or you might customize your own program by taking certain parts from various different detox programs.
Some detox programs last for 24 hours to 3 days, others may be as long as 10 days to two weeks.
Usually the longer ones are more “total body” and involve many different steps aside from just what you eat or drink.
There are detox programs that may include body massage, skin brushing and other techniques such as breathing, journaling exercises and more.
Many of the most popular detox systems are the liquid diet type which involve just a juice or water fasts. Most involve you just drinking a certain type of juice or liquid diet for several days at a time.
During this fasting period the only thing you are supposed to eat or drink is the juice. Some programs might also allow you to have water and nothing else.
You may have also heard of Stanley Burroughs and his famous “Lemonade Diet”. It was also known as the Master Cleanser and involves drinking only lemonade for a particular amount of time. Having never tried it I cannot comment on it’s effectiveness but If you want read more about it you can with our review at Lemonade Diet Master Cleanser.
Other popular programs involve different types of colon cleansing. The “Hawaiian Colon Cleanse” is another popular one but there are many other types you can purchase to use at home that are inexpensive and easy to use.
When you customize your own system, you can get only what you need and want and what you feel works best for you.

Good points - try out some different detoxes then you can produce ‘your own personalized version’ as the years pass.
It does not even have to be expensive - a juice fast, for example, is easy to do and is cheap - as you are drinking juices instead of eating food.
The colon cleansing does not have to be unpleasant at all! Some Programmes just require you to take herbs alongside your normal schedule. There are no horrid effects; but the bowels will move more frequently - if this has previously been a problem. Naturopaths generally think you should have 2-3 bowel movements a day.
