When starting to lose weight the first thing I ask my clients is what’s your motivation and the first answer I normally get is because I am too fat and look ugly, this is closely followed by my husband is looking at younger women.
Life sucks that the time when we are most vulnerable to our spouse straying is the exact same time that you are most likely to be fighting with your weight. That is youv’e probably had your children and have really been able to shift those pounds since and gradually overtime they’ve built up.
So this is where I want you to start when you decide you are finally going to kick this weight into touch once and for all.
First get a piece of paper or bet yet a small note book which you can pick up from Walmart for around a dollar. Write on the front of it these words. ” My commitment to lose X pounds by date by your name” (obviously replacing the X with your intended weight loss) be realistic and challenging if you are 60 pounds over weight don’t put 60 pounds in 14 days or even 3 months it’s not going to happen.
Fast weight loss of around 10 pounds in a couple of weeks is safe but only for a short period of time I use this method in the lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks program to get people encouraged when they see results fast. You can get a free copy from the here free weight loss book.
Set a realistic date of say 2-3 pounds a week then add a couple of weeks for slipping back when you gain weight (it’s gonna happen at sometime!). This means if you want to lose 30 pounds aim for around a 10-12 week period so you need to start of Valentines day to look good for the summer.
Ok moving on I am going to ask you to answer the following questions and put them in your note book …
1. Why do you want to drop a size or two? Give at least 3 reasons more if possible.
Example:- I want to be a size 10 because I want to look as good as I did before I had my daughter and also I think my husband is going off me and could be having an affair.I am so sick of having to wear baggy tops just to hide my tummy I wish I looked sexy again then my hubby would want me more and stop looking at other women.
2. What is your deadline for attaining this goal of losing X pounds? Most importantly why?
Example:- I am going to my husbands works dinner in 3 months time and I want to show them all what a great looking wife Brett has got and put that flirty little blonde in accounting in her place.
3. Why do you think you have failed to lose weight on all your previous attempts?
Example:- I always start off well but never seem to be able to eat the crappy diets they set in these books I like real food not tasteless shalkes and salads all the time. I can’t believe they expect me to go to the gym 5 days a week don’t these people have lives?
4. What is going to change to make this work this time?
Example:- I am not going to try a faddy diet and not going to try and expect to much I’d rather lose 20 pounds than starve myself to death trying to lose 30. I am going to stay focussed and motivated and will every day imagine myself in that hot black dress with Brett on my arm at the dinner. I am going to find other ways to lose weight and not give up on the gym until I hit my goal.
5. How will you build exercise in to your daily routine so if you don’t get to go to the gym it won’t matter?
Example:- I will take the boys swimming twice a week and push Kirstie in her stroller rather than take the car when ever possible. I am going to commit to going to the gym twice a week for the aerobics group as I enjoy that and I am going to get Brett to fix my bike so I we can both go for a ride with the boys at weekends.
6. In what way will losing this weight positively impact your life?
Example:- I am going to feel more confident out with friends and when out with my husband, I will have more energy for Kirstie and the boys and I am going to relight the passion in our realtionship in and out of the bedroom. Brett better watch out as I am going to be a hot yummy mommy.
