When someone refers to “Plus size” bras or lingerie have you ever wondered exactly what it is they are talking about? I did and decided that our readers would find the answer helpful.
If you are like me and read womens magazines you’ll have come across the term Plus Size Bra but it occured to me what is it they are actually saying…
On the one hand they could be talking about lingerie for women who consider themselves to be generally “plus size” – they wear plus size clothes, so doesn’t it follow that they will wear plus size bras?
Well, if a plus size bra is one with a bigger back size (e.g. 42 and above), regardless of cup size, then their assumption is correct according to my research .
But here’s where the confusion starts they might also use the statement to mean women of any dress size but they have bigger breasts.Let’s face it you wouldn’t refer to some women as Plus Size but you would say they had big breasts. For example…
Eve Meyer 44-E Katey Sagal 34-E Keeley Rebecca Hazell 32-E Kelly Brook 32-E
This of course does not mean they are plus size generally but would need a “plus size bra”.
Confussed?
The problem with this sort of universal phrase meaning two totally different things is it any wonder women are confused.
I decided to investigate further and was told at the store I buy my bra’s that every woman should be measured at least annually for a bra as your bra requirements may change if you put on weight and also if you lose weight.
Of course rather more obviously they will also get bigger or indeed smaller if you have breast enhancement surgery or breast reduction surgery.
This does not mean that as you lose weight your breasts will shrink but it does mean you may need to change your bra as your back measurement will.
One leading supplier of bra’s I spoke to estimated that around 80% of women are wearing the wrong sized bra and this is due partially to the confusion women find when buying bra’s and the terminology used by bra manufacturers.
The most common error women make is they buy a bra in which the back measurement is to large and the cup size is to small.
If you are buying a bra to be flirty that you won’t wear everyday them maybe you don’t have to worry so much but my sources tell me every woman needs a properly fitted bra for daily useage.
In my next article for this new section of the blog I will be showing women what to look for in fitting a bra correctly. But in the mean time enjoy some flirty plus sized lingerie from Flirty Lingerie who have a good range.
