There are number of power foods that not only provide you with the energy to see you through a busy day, but also can provide help with losing weight.
In Addition these foods are beneficial to your health and provide additional nutritional benefits not found in most foods.
Whilst these foods may assist with weight loss they can’t do it alone (contrary to the misinformation being passed around to sell such foods).
They must be combined with healthy living, plenty of exercise and a nutritionally balanced diet.
1. Whole Grain Food It should come as no suprise that whole grain foods such as breads and those used in breakfast cereals are a great power food when trying to lose weight. After all they are packed with fiber they help us to feel full and release energy in to the body very slowly. This aids in any weight loss program.
2. Fish cetain seafoods are very rich in Omega 3 which is very beneficial for a healthy heart and circulation and reduces the risk of cancer. The best fish for Omega 3 are Salmon, trout, tuna and mackerel. These are all very low in fat and an excellent part of any diet or weight control program.
3. Seeds and NutsIncorporate nuts and seeds in to your meals.Seeds and Nuts make great snacks to take with you on the go to prevent you from eating unhealthy snacks such as potato chips that cause weight gain.
All nuts provide fiber to help you feel full and improve your heart health as well as balance your hormones.
4. Fruits Eat a selection of various fruits into your daily routine as a delicious sweet low-calorie snack or as part of your meals.
Dark fruits such as berries and grapes can help to slow down and in some cases even reverse age-related disorders, they are high in antioxidants which help reduce heart disease and cranberries in particular keep your urinary tract healthy.
Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons or grapefruit provide your body with vitamin C, potassium and folic acid and can even make insulin levels more stable which decreases the chances of binge eating.

These incredible cheap but effective power foods form part of the stable diet of much of the world. They also are high in potassium, folic acid, Vitamin B6 ,iron and zinc.
6. Tomato’s these are great to boost your metabolism which means your body can burn fat faster. Subsequently any food containing tomato can help with weight loss. Additionally tomatoes provide your body with high levels of vitamin C and lycopene which is believed to help control and even prevent certain cancers. Lycoprene levels are at their highest in concentrated tomato paste and cooked tomatos which are both used extensively in Mediterranean cooking.
7. Vegetables leafy green vegetables such as dark lettuces, and spinach, and green cabbage provide folic acid and B-complex vitamins.
Orange vegetables such as carrots, squashes or sweet potatoes provide you cancer-fighting vitamins like beta-carotene and vitamins C and E.
Cruciferous power vegetables of broccoli or cauliflower also fight cancer with beta-carotene and B-complex vitamins.
In conclusion whilst the latest new discovery of Acai Berries or some rare herb or vegetable may be claimed to be the ‘next best thing’ weight loss power food we should not ignore that there are many power foods which can brought cheaply in our supermarkets and grocery stores.
